 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Spending at offshore sites eased slightly from its November seasonal peak, but underlying growth remained very strong.
  • Purchases from overseas online retailers in December were up 17% on the previous December, with approximately half of the increase coming from Clothing, Computer and Electrical/Electronic stores.
  • Spending at local sites was up 13% on the previous December; confirming the early data that pointed towards continued double-digit growth, and eclipsing the growth rate at bricks and mortar stores (approximately 4%*).
  • Food, Clothing and Department/Variety stores stood out, driving over 60% of the increase on the previous December.

Kingsland tram tragedy of 1903 to be formally recognised with ceremony

 A search has begun for relatives of those involved in an Auckland tram disaster.

On Christmas Eve, 1903 a fatal collision between two trams on New North Road, Kingsland killed three and injured up to 60.

Last SMCAKL Event For 2106

Last night the Auckland Social Media Club met for the last time in 2016 and discussed the 'Dark Web', with a panel comprising of Rick Shera - Internet Lawyer, James Ting-Edwards - Issues Advisor for InternetNZ, Matt Taylor - Regional District Forensic Unit Manager  NZ Police and Dean Par - A regular Auckland teenager.
