Total online retail sales in May were 10% higher than in May last year. This is broadly in line with growth rates we have observed over the past 12 months.

This month's growth was largely driven by online sales at domestic sites, with clothing, food and electronic goods responsible for much of the growth at these retailers. Spending at local online clothing retailers was up 13% on last May, while international clothing e-tailers experienced flat results.

International sites saw spending by Kiwi's increase 8% on last May, driven by computer and entertainment media sites.
